Data Visualization and Dashboarding Fundamentals


Data Visualization and Dashboarding Fundamentals in Tableau is for students just getting started or looking to understand what’s possible in Tableau. With a minimal investment in time and expense, this course provides the foundational knowledge necessary to begin visualizing data with Tableau Desktop.

This is a fully interactive course. Participants will have practice performing the skills in our online classroom. The instructor is able to see each student's computer screen and offer guidance.  Students will be sent an electronic copy of the course manual.


Hands-on learning exercises in this course will be completed on Tableau Desktop version 10, however, nearly all techniques are also relevant to all versions of Tableau Desktop 9.x, except where noted throughout the course.

Consumers of business intelligence information and business analysts. Exercises are designed to be light and provide a basic proficiency with the relevant tools (not mastery).

  5. Work with Maps
    1. Display geographical results with map displays
    2. Customize maps
  6. Create Dashboards
    1. Add sheets to dashboards
    2. Customize dashboards with visualizations and other features
  7. Put Views Together in a Story
    1. Understand how stories can organize and present your results
  8. Publishing and Sharing
    1. Understand how Tableau Server and Tableau public can be used to share results
Registration Details

  • Senturus accepts payment by credit card, purchase order and invoice.
  • Paying party will receive a payment confirmation email upon payment receipt.
  • Each registered student will receive an email with the course confirmation and details on how to access the online classroom.
  • All students will receive electronic copies of the course guide. Students may print one hard copy of the guide for their own personal use during the course. The course materials are copyrighted and any other reproduction or distribution of these materials is strictly prohibited.

We recommend that all attendees have two displays (monitors) so they can see the training presentation and their hands-on class work simultaneously.

Audio for attendees is via VoIP and a PC Headset is highly recommended. Audio is also available via teleconference using a TOLL number.

It is highly recommended that attendees use their own local copy of Tableau Desktop, any version of 10 will be suitable to complete the course. If a local copy of Tableau Desktop is not available in time for the class, attendees will need to connect to the demonstration environment via Remote Desktop. Instructions for testing your ability to connect to the remote desktop environment will be provided in the registration confirmation email.

Cancellations made ten or more calendar days prior to the first day of the course receive a 100% refund.

Cancellations made between five and nine calendar days prior to the first day of the course, receive a 50% refund.

Registrants will be charged 100% of the enrollment fee if a cancellation request is not received at least five calendar days prior to the first day of the course.
